What is TMD or TMJ?
TMJ is derived from temporomandibular joint, referring to your jaw joint. While the term TMJ is more of a household word,TMD or temporomandibular disorders is more widely used by dentists and physicians. There are many causes of head, neck, or jaw pain and problems, thus, TMD is a more accurate description of the condition.
