Chronic and Severe Pain is a major issue for many patients.  Gabapentic is frequently utilized for a wide variety of issues.  

Gabapentin's side effects can range from common and mild symptoms to rare but serious health issues. Many common side effects, such as dizziness and drowsiness, may decrease as your body adjusts to the medication. There are both common side effects and rarer more severe effects of this medication.  

This is new research that shows that long term use of Gabapentic, especially over time can contribute to Alzheimers and Dementia.

Common side effects (AI)

  • Drowsiness and fatigue: A feeling of being very tired or sleepy, which is one of the most common side effects.
  • Dizziness: A feeling of lightheadedness or unsteadiness.
  • Ataxia: Problems with muscle coordination, which can cause clumsiness or unsteadiness.
  • Gastrointestinal issues: These can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, or indigestion.
  • Weight gain: An increase in appetite can contribute to weight gain.
  • Peripheral edema: Swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs.
  • Vision problems: These may include double vision (diplopia) or involuntary eye movements (nystagmus).
  • Headache: Mild headaches are a common occurrence.
  • Viral symptoms: In children, side effects can include viral infections, fever, and flu-like symptoms.
